Valinda Cortez was on her way to a store in North Carolina when she came across a puppy living in deplorable conditions. The canine looked miserable and had lost all hope, being drenched from the rain.
Valinda quickly realized the need to assist the child and bravely spoke out, stating: “Upon exiting my vehicle, I was overcome with a wave of sadness. The young girl in front of me seemed to have been exposed to the elements for an extended period, evident by her shivering from the cold. It was clear that someone had left her behind, and she was in dire need of help.”
To gain the trust of the pooch, the woman moved closer, gave her a warm covering to keep her cozy, and stuck around for over an hour.
Valinda contacted her friend Sue Massi, who is in charge of rescuing stray dogs in the vicinity, when the puppy was deemed fit for rescue. Within a mere 20 minutes of Sue’s arrival, the furry friend was safely transported to a shelter.
Valinda shared her disappointment with humans, but she had a strong desire to win back an animal’s confidence in people by offering it nourishment, a warm blanket, and love.
With a cheerful face that radiated happiness, Cassie was a beloved dog who brought immense joy to everyone in her surroundings.
